Trump’s bullying tactics

One thing that I don’t like about Trump is that: I don’t like seeing my friends attacked … especially when they have set out to do something that is really good  and needed by this country – like Cruz and Rubio. I see some pain in Cruz’s eyes, and I’m not happy about that. Whereas I see anger in Trump’s eyes. Now he might just be bulling straight ahead to get needed things done in this country and therefore he’s going to harshly brush aside anything that gets in the way of that cause. But I think that he should JUST be aiming that anger at the democrats. He could point out his differences with the other candidates. But if he can’t do it nicely, I don’t think that he’s helping the overall cause. And in the end it doesn’t give people a choice based on intelligence … just emotion. And if nth degree intelligent inquiry isn’t allowed to be employed, then I have to wonder if the perpetrator is hiding the fact that they don’t think that people will elect them if they knew the whole truth about them. And isn’t that how Muslims have been trying to get Sharia law implemented – with force and not persuasion? Nevertheless, I’m still voting for Trump because conservatism does need a warrior … and he’s proven to be that.

46,471 Overdose deaths in 2013. Why?

“Drug overdose deaths are the leading cause of injury death in the United States, ahead of motor vehicle deaths and firearms (deaths),” the Drug Enforcement Agency announced on Wednesday.

Bill O’Reilly asked 2 PhD psychologists on his show tonight why people are so unhappy now, to the point where they are rioting (actually whining) in the streets, whereas this didn’t happen during more dire times in the first half of the last century when the character of people in general was more civil, reverent and responsible. They gave ineffective political spins and really had no clue as to why. Why? Because they are handcuffed by the secularism in the mainstream … particularly in the field of psychology. And psychiatry is even worse in that instead of just relying on analysis (and having no real solutions), they throw drugs at the symptoms.

So then what is the explanation as to why there are so many overdoses? It’s what I just alluded to – the mainstream is handcuffed by their secular viewpoint and therefore are forced to exclude God out of the solution. That’s unfortunate because God offers the only effective solution. And I make that statement after having tried on the world’s solutions when I was having emotional, alcohol and drug problems.

I wholeheartedly tried 20 different approaches to truth, lifestyle and problem solving, but none of them worked … until I turned my life over to Jesus and did what He and the rest of the Bible said to do. That worked … and has been working for 33 years now ☺

And let me spell out some specific points as to why it worked.
In the Bible God promises to see to it that our basic needs are taken care of.

Matthew 6:25-33 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
He also promises peace.

Philippians 4:6-8, 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
And the Bible says that we can be content in all circumstances.

Philippians 4:12, I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Is God then a liar? No. And I say that not only from personal experience and the testimony of many others, but I also prove the Bible to be an inerrant book of truth in my book THE PROOF that God exists and the Bible is True (www.ConclusiveProofOfGod.com).

And in my program at http://www.AddictionFreeForever.com, I show how a person can come to a place of peace, strength and confidence (which I’ve been experiencing for 33 years, and so have many others who have done my program). I italicized “I’ve” in that sentence because I don’t the put peace, strength and confidence in my heart. That had to (and has to) be done for me (for which I’m very grateful). I don’t have that kind of power ultimately. That is, we can’t just live any old way and expect those things to appear in our heart. God has to do it. My program just shows a person the step by step process to take that will cause God to do it. In fact if we live “any old way” that is outside of God’s ways, God then puts other things in our heart to correct us – like guilt, pain, fear and conviction – which people then try to bury them and push them out of consciousness with various forms of addiction.

Unfortunately, many people don’t come to that understanding though, and suffering and hopelessness lead them to overdose. But the old saying is true … “No God, no peace; Know God, know peace.” So now that I found out how to have that knowing, it would be selfish of me to not spread it. And that’s what motivates me.

Another interesting thing to recognize out of all of this is how it affects economics, which is a big point in the presidential debates. Just refer back to the verses that I said. God promises that ANYBODY’S finances will be taken care of IF a person is obedient to God and His ways and make Him and them their #1 priority.

Therefore, what I see over and over that people are missing in the debates and on TV is that they aren’t recognizing THE solution (to economics, marriage, and inner peace) and they are left to just listen to the ineffective ramblings of psychology professionals and other TV discussions … which then leads them to be hopeless and seek comfort in addictions when their advice doesn’t take away their negative experiences. The statistics don’t lie.

Therefore, this country will never straighten out its problems until we recognize and obey our Creator.

So, bravo to the Christians who are running for office who understand this and are courageous enough to vocalize it (as best they can) in spite of the criticisms they encounter. That at least leads in the right direction.

Putting the Duggar incident into a “natural” perspective

To put the Duggar incident into a natural perspective, let me say 3 things.

(1) We are in a 2 gender reality as human beings. Therefore there is going to be some curiosity, usually starting between 10 and 12 years old. When I was growing up, boys and girls mutually shared in satisfying this curiosity.

(2) If God didn’t intend for young teens to marry, then he goofed by giving them hormones then. He didn’t goof. The current society is the one that is “goofing” – that is, it is out of harmony with nature. I started having sex at 14 and got married at 17. I was strongly driven to fall in love and do both.

(3) If #s 1 and 2 here are going to be satisfied, and yet there should be no sex outside of marriage, then marriage needs to happen at the age that hormones come on. But that has been the way throughout most of history and most of the world. For example, Mary was 14 when she married and gave birth to Jesus. My main thoughts and feelings as a young teen were: falling in love and sex. That’s just what appeared within me, not as an action of my will. Both of those drives are SO powerful, they cannot be suppressed. And because they aren’t treated naturally in the current culture, we have the world that we live in and its sex problems and broken hearts.

The solution? Young people need to be made mature so they can fall in love and get married. The ’50s were much more mature than now. Of course that would prove to be very difficult in the current moral climate. And God has given the exact instructions on how to create that maturity. There is no maturity without being in harmony with His Bible and Spirit. The economy needs to make it so that the husband can support a family (plus the wife can work out of the home, like in Proverbs 31). Part of that would be to realize that only few jobs/careers require college. Everything else should just be apprenticeships. Otherwise we are just fighting nature and nature’s God.

I should also mention the beauty behind God’s plan of 2 genders – that human beings would learn how to become one, and at least be confronted with one proving ground where that could happen: a marriage between a man and a woman 🙂

Regarding Charles Darwin Day

There are people who go to school (including colleges) and just absorb what is being taught there (as well as what’s in the media) and then blindly repeat it as truth. (Regurgitaters). They are the modern equivalents of flat earthers. And if you press them, most of them will become insulting and name calling. Then there are others who think out and question and study everything to the nth degree and address any apparent flaws. (Innovators). Anybody who “believes in” evolution has not personally researched it to the nth degree, at which point they’d not only realize that there is no proof for it, but the proof is against it. The solution to terrorism

I’m a Christian who is totally convinced that the Bible has the ultimate solutions for everything because it is in harmony with the designs of our Creator as manifested in the physical and experiential optimum workings of the human being. (You can see my PROOF of that at http://www.ConclusiveProofOfGod.com). And here is the Bible’s solution for the problem of terrorism aimed at the United States and the west.

The idea here is that there are some things about the general American approach that some people in the world find disgusting and therefore are turned to other approaches, including the Muslim one. I too find the same errors in the American approach, but I see Christianity as the solution, even though it isn’t properly lived out in America or the west. (Still, there are many things about the American approach that are better than anything else in the world. But the Bible calls us to be “blameless.”) In fact it is being better lived out in the Muslim world in a lot of ways. That’s a big reason why people are attracted to Islam I believe. So here we go with the solution.

Step 1: It’s a matter of holiness. That means: how in harmony with God’s designs are we collectively living them out? In America and the west the degree of harmony is not very high. The culture in general is very polluted with “sin.” Therefore, what is Christianity’s advice on how to deal with sin? Repent. And here are the main sins of the west: abortion, gay marriage, atheism, pornography, male/female relationships, feminism, spiritual immaturity, homosexuality, various addictions, idol worship, sexual immorality. Therefore, until those things are repented against (instead of defended and promoted), most people deep down will not have respect for the culture, and will not find it appealing. They might succumb to being bullied by it, but they won’t have respect or love for it. Therefore they will feel the need to look elsewhere for where to ground their philosophy and allegiance and what they will follow and support. I also think that this is the main draw for Islam.

Step 2: Stop interfering with other countries, especially using force. Like someone recently said, “Who are the real terrorists?” I mean, how can a few terrorist incidents be compared to many bombings and killings on others’ native soil? And along that line of thinking, Bill Maher once said, “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.” So if we really want to protect American lives, we will not get involved in the affairs of other countries. As long as we don’t have the moral high ground (as described in Step 1), we don’t have the right to tell other experiments for how to live in the world that our way should be followed. And if there are evils in the world that should be addressed and corrected, there should be a unity among all nations to take action to make the correction of the evil. That has not been the case in any recent conflicts. America getting militarily involved in post WWII conflicts has a presupposition that its way is THE way. But as described in Step 1, it isn’t. Yes there are many things about the American experiment that are the best in the world. But a liberal undercurrent has caused many aspects of the American culture to be inferior to other approaches around the globe. Therefore we should always be looking to improve on what already is good. But there are strong evil forces within our own country that counter that improvement by supporting and promoting the sins described in Step 1. And therefore, people who are looking for satisfaction in those holy areas might get attracted to other approaches in the world that don’t have those evil stances. That is why I think that Islam has some appeal, because it doesn’t support those errors. But of course it has a lot of errors of its own. And its arrogance includes violence and forcing people to follow it. Instead, it should be appealing to people to freely choose its ways. And America should meet that same challenge. In that way, now that the Republicans have the majority in congress (and hopefully in the next presidential election), it should not downplay the “social issues” as some in it have been doing to appease the general culture. It should take strong stands against the evil gains made by the liberals. Backing up my two conclusions here, Mike Huckabee recently said that “sin” is the #1 problem in America. And Ron Paul said that we should not interfere with other countries. In my book The Solutions, I say that of course we have to keep a military for our protection, and it is even a good thing for people being able to transition out of poverty, but there are better uses of our military than to attack people in other nations.

The bottom line is that we should allow other experiments around the world to take place and fail on their own (e.g. communism, Sharia law, etc.). But as far as our place in that experimental mix, if we are to be perceived as the better alternative, we need to increasingly be the “shining city on a hill” to increasingly attract support and not attacks. And those attacks are usually based on the two things I mentioned in Steps 1 and 2: unholiness and interfering with (including military occupation) other country’s business. My feeling is that instead of being rah rah for our side (and even using military force to enforce it), we should work on making our hill more shining. And that would start with repentance of sin. That approach is even the best one on the personal level. And the love and peace that our Creator blesses those with who take that approach is the most attractive of all and what everyone deep down is looking for 🙂

Proverbs 9 and family gatherings

Proverbs 9:7-9, “Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you. Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.”
Matthew 10:13-14, “If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace. Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet.”

“Shake off the dust of your feet”—”for a testimony against them,” as Mark and Luke add (Mr 6:11; Lu 10:11). By this symbolical action they vividly shook themselves from all connection with such, and all responsibility for the guilt of rejecting them and their message. Such symbolical actions were common in ancient times.

When combining these verses, particular wisdoms emerge.

(1) It is innate (and good) for us to want to correct each other and help each other grow.
(2) Some people have tendencies that have been labeled as “generational curses”. (Perhaps you’ve experienced bad manifestations of this at family gatherings.)
(3) Some of those people recognize those bad tendencies within themselves and decide that they want these bad tendencies to end with themselves. So they do the psychological, emotional and spiritual “work” (self-reflection, Bible study, self control, etc.) that will transform them and erase the curses. (“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2) They are the ones who are open to good Proverbs 9 corrections because they find good purpose in transformation. And the end goal of that work is that they are just nice and positive and fulfilled all of the time.
(4) But others are defensive and have “eraser phrases” (e.g. “You think that you know more than me?” “You think that you are perfect?”, etc.) that just continue the curses. Or they take things that you say personally and not just as intelligent analysis, and you end up in an uncomfortable emotional psychodramatic trap. These people fall into the “wicked/mocker” category in Proverbs 9. It is wise then to recognize that an intelligent conversation with these people is not possible (after a number of tries) and therefore the “dust on the heels” verse needs to be applied. Perhaps not totally, for the sake of family gatherings, but at least to the point where you recognize not to correct or even give a statement that might be taken as a correction or criticism. These people are not capable of engaging in deep, exploratory conversations (which for the intelligent, peaceful person are fun) and therefore it is unwise to try to have one of those with them. But those kinds of conversations are God mandated and therefore are our natural tendency. And shallow conversations might be boring. Therefore, unfortunately, that kind of person we need to for the most part shut out of our radar, because even shallow conversations will lead to depth for a deep person.
(5) Therefore, just hang out with nice people who gravitate towards depth, and be nice and deep yourself.
(6) And if you must associate with toxic people (e.g. for family or work reasons), recognize their buttons, don’t push them, and decide whether or not you can play by their rules.
(7) Keep pursuing God and His ways as we participate in our own sanctification process 🙂

If you haven’t seen this, there is an atheist billboard in a number of cities that has a little girl saying:

Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is to skip church! I’m too old for fairy tales.

Really? That’s what a little girl would write to Santa for? That would be the top wish of her heart?

An atheistic stance is logically and scientifically impossible!

Church is good … and Jesus is all good.
And therefore He is worth celebrating at Christmas.

Christmas teenager

If you have or have had teenagers or have ever been one ;-), you might be able to relate to this cartoon. One present for the parents, a pile for the kid, who doesn’t even show any gratitude.

I mean, it’s understandable that we each want life to go just how we want it to go every second and that we mainly think about ourselves and our desires. The problem is: that doesn’t work in a setting of other people, because what if someone wants things to go in a way that another person doesn’t? (For example, in marriage, parenting, business, in a society, etc.)

Therefore the first important lesson in our growth is: “It is better to give than receive” Acts 20:35. Then if everyone gives, it works, because there will be plenty to receive from that pool of giving for everyone’s needs to be satisfied 🙂

The second important lesson is that if we just focus on giving to God in obedience to His ways, then that is the best that can happen, because God’s ways are perfect.

Robin Williams’ suicide – a different take

I’m writing this article because I don’t think we’re seeing the real reason for Robin Williams’ suicide being addressed in the media. Here is what I think is being missed.

The fact that Robin Williams committed suicide implicitly said that he made a decision that he didn’t want to be Robin Williams anymore.

The tendency in evaluating that is that he wanted to escape from an alcoholic inclination, or that he wanted to no longer experience the physical suffering from depression, from which he couldn’t envision a solution, even though he tried rehab clinics and had the money to avail himself to the best psychiatrists. That alone says something about the state of psychiatry and how ineffective it is. And it is scandalous that a country only legally endorses a failed psychology system (as opposed to a Biblical solution, which I personally know works). And it is not only scandalous but heartbreaking in a nation where there are 108 suicides every day. I mean a suicide says that no solution can be found to the torment a person goes through. But there IS a solution and I wish that I could have talked to Robin Williams and anyone else who is contemplating suicide (which I do through my books and have gotten feedback that suicides have been prevented with them).

So then what was the real reason for Robin Williams’ depression? There is the accepted norm to see depression as a purely physical reality that must be dealt with with physical treatments. But that physical state doesn’t appear out of a vacuum. Like another physical malady, obesity, it had to build over time. Therefore its causes must be backtracked and eliminated. But unlike obesity, I think that depression has a quicker cure (which I spell out in my program at www.AddictionFreeForever.com).

Setting that cure aside for the moment, what then were the roots of Robin Williams’ depression? Having been in the entertainment industry for many years, I know that there is a pressure to be “on” all the time. And in Robin Williams’ case, that “on” was a very hyper state of being. And that’s what people expected from him. But that state had to be VERY exhausting. And it is especially a dilemma when you don’t feel it … but simultaneously felt a fear to not want to disappoint people. And that continual exhaustion could be very depressing. Therefore, like most entertainers, they get backed into a corner by their public persona and are trapped in this state of being on. And in his particular case, you hear the mourners now say how happy he made everybody. Therefore he couldn’t show his unhappiness (which should have been evident to everyone by the fact that he checked himself into rehab clinics). I mean, why do people drink and use drugs? The answer is: they are trying to change their state. And what they are trying to change is an undesirable (either by themselves or the public) aspect of their state. But there is a natural way to change that. But the person who uses alcohol or drugs doesn’t see that and yet deems the inner pressure to “perform” for others as being mandatory (which could be an aspect of anyone’s life). And part of Robin Williams’ performance didn’t include the anger he felt over his divorces. And that is something that he had to keep bottled up because, as the eulogies are saying, “he just brought happiness to others, and that will be missed.” But obviously, keeping up that happy performance didn’t allow him to be what he was really feeling. He might have just felt alone in that … which would have opened up another can of worms that this nation isn’t ready for … why there is so much divorce (which the Bible also has the solution for).

And this is where the political aspect of this picture comes in. The solution to all of this comes down to understanding how the body, mind and heart we’re in were designed to operate. And this is a design that we have little power over. Therefore the solution is to learn what that design is and then flow with it … not try to manipulate it to what we or others or the general state of peer pressure expect it to be. There’s a line in a song that expresses this well: “Wonderful is what you’ll feel in you when you do the things you were made to do.”

But the problem happens when people feel like they have to be certain ways that are against that design. Another line from an old commercial says, “It’s not nice to fool mother nature.” And although people can micromanage their feelings and actions against nature, that takes a toll. And eventually a person might decide that they don’t want to experience that toll anymore and they choose to opt out in the only way they can figure out to escape it … suicide.

Unfortunately the society has deemed to not endorse what I’ve found to be the cure for this … getting in harmony with the design of our being … which is nailed in the Bible. The say that that is religious, and separation of church and state, blah, blah, blah. The fact is though, that is an objective, not religious solution. That’s why a big part of my work is to show that the Bible is objectively a book of truth, which can be scientifically proven.

Convincing people to follow God

If a person has no interest in studying the Bible, and no interest (or fear) about obeying what’s in the Bible, and no sensitivity to hear and follow God within them, and no inclination to talk about God and His ways with others, or no actions to spread God in the world (“Faith without works is dead” James 2:26) … what does that say about the person? It says that they have no relationship with God or any interest in developing one.

Therefore it is the job of us who do have an interest and relationship with God to convince others that this is a good thing to do … nay, the best possible thing to do in this life.

Then it becomes a matter of “discipline” (i.e. being a “disciple”). That is, have you ever forced yourself to do something that you weren’t inclined to do, but then having done it, were really happy that you did because it transformed your experience for the better?

For me in my life, the main transforming things that I’ve done (and continue to do) are to force myself to go to church and study the Bible and develop the skill of listening to God within and join Bible groups and do ministry work. No matter if I have any lethargy regarding those things, once I get the ball rolling, I’m VERY happy that I did. Exhaustion and distraction tend to keep us from exercising those disciplines. And that’s especially true in this busy world, and where electronics have become the modern day Tower of Babel. But here’s what God wants us to do:

Acts 26:15-17, “ ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. I will rescue you from your own people. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

But to be motivated to become a servant of Jesus and a witness to others, a person first has to truly discover God and His greatness. That is what would make them enthusiastic about fulfilling that verse.
